Vehicle Seized Following Suspected Poaching Activity in Charing Heath.

On 22 September 2026, officers attended a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Church Hill area of Charing Heath, Ashford. Following enquiries, the vehicle was linked to suspected poaching activity and has since been seized.

Ashford Neighbourhood Policing Team are continuing to work alongside the Rural Task Force and enquiries remain ongoing to identify the person involved.

Poaching has a significant impact on our rural communities, causing distress to landowners, damaging crops and habitats, and affecting local wildlife. We remain committed to tackling rural crime and acting on information provided by the public.

Please report:

Suspicious vehicles in rural locations, particularly during the hours of darkness.

Unfamiliar vehicles entering fields, farm tracks or remote areas.

Lights being used in fields, woodland or open countryside at night where there is no legitimate reason for them to be present.

People carrying dogs, catapults, slingshots, lamps or other equipment associated with poaching.

Signs of deceased wildlife being left within or near to the vicinity of the vehicle.

If it is safe to do so, note vehicle registrations, descriptions, locations and directions of travel, as this information can be invaluable to officers.
